Mark Sexton

Mark is the head of the industrial chemistry patent examining group in the Intellectual Property Office and head of the IPO’s coaching profession. He has formed and led the IPO’s award winning coaching network for over a decade. Mark’s career has been at the intersection of law and innovation for over 25 years and utilised his degrees in both Chemistry and Law (Exeter University) and a Diploma in Business Administration (Cardiff Business School). He qualified as a coach with Worth Consulting over a decade ago.
Alongside this Mark is a prominent member of the cross-civil service coaching community, and is highly sought after for his one to one coaching which focuses on developing high potential staff and teams and executive coaching with a particular focus on operational delivery in the context of innovation and technology, law and the creative industries.
His coaching has a firm grounding in the latest research and also draws on his experience and interest in Science, Art and Literature to enrich his practice. This eclectic approach helps the coachee to consider their situation from unexpected and enlightening angles, uncovering new paths to reach their goals.
Mark’s counsel is regularly sought on how to successfully form, maintain and sustain internal coaching networks. He founded and continues to run civil service coaching week, which has delivered dozens of CPD sessions to hundreds of coaches in the public sector since 2021. Mark is also a qualified and active mediator.
